In my humble opinion, one of the extra plusses about being married is the fact that you get to have double of everything. Double the parents, double the siblings, double the Christmases, double the Easters and double the birthdays. One day you get cupcakes and the next day you get pie. One day the Easter bunny comes and then he comes again the next day. That is just pretty awesome if you ask me. So here are a few pictures of Justin's first married birthday:   |
In addition to getting both pie and cupcakes we had a Raclette party with Justin's family. For those of you who don't have any idea what Raclette is I'll describe it for you in one word: Cheese. Last year for his birthday, I got THIS for Justin. It's a Raclette party grill. Basically you put vegetables on the top of the grill and then underneath you melt Raclette cheese which is a specialty cheese from France, where Justin served his mission. He did this a few times while he was there. I guess that if you live in France for an extended period of time you get hooked on the cheese. I, for one, am not too fond of the Raclette type of cheese. To me it smells weird. So I eat mozzarella and Colby Jack cheese with mine. Maybe it's just one of those things that you have to get used to....

So... I mentioned that being married means a lot of doubles... And with Easter today we spent yesterday having a blast dying eggs and eating to our heart's desire.

We even discovered that if you use bleach, you can make white designs on the eggs after you dye them. It was awesome! I am pretty impressed with Justin's egg dying skills. What an awesome tradition!

We had an easter egg hunt... Yeah, I still get pretty into those things. Especially when I know that there's an egg out there that has money in it...
The Saturday festivities were a lot of fun. I loved being able to spend the afternoon with the Moodys and the evening with the Newmans. I am so grateful for such an awesome family. Now that it is Sunday I am grateful to be able to reflect on the true meaning of Easter. Why we even celebrate it in the first place. I know that Jesus Christ lives. He was resurrected so that I can live again someday. He is the perfect example. I am in awe at his everlasting sacrifice that will allow me to be perfected in him. I know that because of my Savior I can have eternal life. I can live with my family and with God again. Those blessings are some of the most important to me. I love my Redeemer. He knows us all personally. Have a Happy Easter because HE IS RISEN!
