Grown up

I don't really feel like a grown up. But I just graduated from college. I have (or will be soon receiving via mail) a diploma with my name on it. I got a Bachelors of Science degree in Communication Disorders with a minor in Family Life. That felt strange to write. Me? Really? ME? Yes Cami, you. If you haven't figured it out yet I'm still in shock. I've been a student for a really really really long time and now it's time to move on.

But I couldn't move on without paying a tribute to my life as a college student at Brigham Young University.

Freshman year was amazing! And I have the pictures to prove it! I lived with my sweet friend Laura from High School. I can't even tell you how grateful I was for her. She was the best roommate a girl could ask for. We didn't know who the other two girls would be in our dorm but we hoped for the best. And that's exactly what we got with Lindsey Pearl and Rebecca. After an awkward dance party, making forts, and a Secret Agent date we became best friends. We made lots of other friends too. Sarah, Marianne, Britten and Lydia were just down the hall. I can't even name the countless other friends we made. And don't worry, I kept in touch with Justin too. It was also during my freshman year that I got the best job ever. I worked for Dr. Craig Manscill in the Religion department as a TA for his Living prophets and Doctrine and Covenants classes. I got to help write a book too!

 We didn't sleep much but it was a great year. So great in fact that Laura, Lindsey, Rebecca, Lydia, Sarah and I decided that we wanted to live together again sophomore year. This time we moved out of the dorms and into Liberty Square. But I guess I shouldn't forget the most memorable trip of my life when we got together in California for a week...

Liberty Square wasn't too bad... except for when we waited in line for hours to get parking stickers and then got the worst ones... oh and except for the time that our mirror in the bathroom just fell off the wall...  :) It was while I was here that I decided to change my major. I started out as an Elementary Education Major and just felt a lot better about Communication Disorders. I felt like that is what I needed to do... so I switched. I kept working for Brother Manscill and Sarah joined me. We would go on bagel runs, hold review sessions, and make sure the office stayed organized which wasn't an easy task.

this also happened to be the semester when I got my mission call to Hungary!

So I left after Christmas and entered the MTC on January 14, 2009. I had a TON of amazing experiences and met some of the most wonderful people who changed my life forever.

But since this is a tribute to my college days... I won't go into anymore mission details. I came home in July of 2010. I readjusted, reconnected with old friends, and rejoined the BYU community. I moved in with Laura and Lindsey at Chatham Towne which is a cute little condo east of campus. Rebecca was on a mission in Canada, Lydia was on a mission in Germany, and Sarah met the love of her life sophomore year and got married before I came home. I also got to room with Mary. She lived with Laura, Lindsey, and Rebecca while I was gone and I had heard great things about her. I got a job at the MTC travel office and helped Sarah get a job there. It was fun working with her again. We worked together for about 2 weeks before I got a job as a Teacher at the MTC teaching missionaries who were going to English speaking missions. I also took a Hungarian class - basically like a mini mission reunion 3 times a week.

I also started dating Justin again. We had a lot of fun. He studied more than I did but we made it work. I still can't figure out how he got good grades that semester.

Lindsey got married in December so she sold her contract to some random girl whose name i can't even remember... She lived there for a week or so and then decided to move. So Liz moved in. I kept taking classes and continued loving them! Language is fascinating!

In February of 2011 Justin and I got engaged!!!!! 

In April I started working as a Hungarian teacher at the MTC which was/is awesome! I loved the people I worked with and the missionaries too. Justin and I took spring classes before we got married on June 24, 2011

We spent the summer messing around and then started up classes again in August. I was only slightly surprised that I got the best grades of my life after I got married. My social life went a little down hill. Classes this semester were a lot of fun because 2 of my old roommates (Mary and Lydia) ended up being in a lot of my major classes. I kept working at the MTC and Justin kept working at his dad's dental office making phone calls and cleaning.

After another fun filled summer I started up my last semester. I only needed to take 9 credits but I decided to take an extra 4 credits so that I could take French. I LOVED that class. I learned so much and kind of wish that I would have taken french classes earlier. I also took sewing and LOVED that class too. My major classes were good, especially because Lydia was there. Then finals came. I can't believe that I did it. I passed all my classes!

Life right now is good. I am going to keep working at the MTC until they kick me out. Justin's going to keep preparing for dental school. He'll be taking the DAT in May or June and then be applying for dental schools in the summer! I'm excited to see where life takes us.
